WHEN IS THE RETREAT?

Friday, May 1st – May 3rd

WHAT DOES THE RETREAT COST?

Registration – Early Bird rate of $120.00 until March 27th.

On March 28th, the price will increase to $150.00. A $60 deposit is required when registering.

WHAT IS THE AGE RANGE FOR THE RETREAT?

Youth who attend are from sixth grade to high school.  Early College young adults are also welcome to attend as volunteers.  If you are older and would like to come, we also have many serving opportunities available as well.

HOW DO I REGISTER?

Registration is available online at www.mergedmv.com/retreat.

WHAT TIME DO WE ARRIVE AT THE CHURCH?

Drop-off location will be at First Baptist Church of Glenarden Worship Center (600 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD)

Check-in starts at 10:00 am.  Buses will be leaving at 11:00 am.

WHY ARE WE LEAVING AT 11AM ON FRIDAY MORNING?

By leaving on Friday morning, we have more time to share life with our students. The later we leave, the less time we have to really experience God and each other. This way, we have a full three days and two nights to enjoy the retreat. Trust us: it’s worth it!

WHAT TIME WILL WE ARRIVE BACK AT THE CHURCH?

Pick-up location will be at First Baptist Church of Glenarden Worship Center (600 Watkins Park Drive, Upper Marlboro, MD).  Buses will arrive at 4:00 pm.

HOW WILL TRANSPORTATION TO AND FROM THE CAMP SITE BE HANDLED?

We will rent buses for transportation to and from the retreat.

It is about 100 miles (1 hours and 30 minutes) from the Worship Center

HOW DO I CONTACT THE CAMP SITE IN CASE OF AN EMERGENCY?

WHAT SHOULD MY TEEN BRING?

Toiletries, towel, bed linen, blankets, pillows, and/or sleeping bag, any necessary medication, shower slippers, flashlight, journal, pen/pencil, camera, possibly rain gear, & MOST IMPORTANTLY, A BIBLE!

**IMPORTANT**: This year we ask that you include a change of layered clothes that you will be willing to throw away! If you do not have clothes you are willing to throw away there are great inexpensive alternatives at the Salvation Army or Goodwill stores.

 

HOW WILL MEALS BE TAKEN CARE OF?

Five home-style meals are prepared at the Camps facility.  Snack machines and snack shops will be available; but you must bring your own money for these purchases.  Note:  The staff will NOT be held responsible for any monies that are loss or missing.

WHAT SHOULD THEY NOT BRING?

Merge is not responsible if teens’ items are lost, stolen or damaged.  Please tell your teens not to bring items that you or they would be upset if something happens to it or bring more money than you think they need to buy snacks for two days.

Teens can bring cell phones.

MERGE is not responsible for lost or stolen phones.

Knives, other weapons, matches or anything that could potentially cause harm to one’s self or others are NOT permitted.

WHAT IF MY CHILD DOESN’T KNOW ANYONE ON THE RETREAT?

This concern is normal and we have found that teenagers who feel this way always come home with new friends and great memories! Each teenager will thoughtfully be placed in a connect group where they will experience real family and real friends from their fellow teenagers and leaders!

WHAT KINDS OF THINGS WILL WE PARTICIPATE IN AT THE RETREAT?

That’s a part of the surprise!! There are opportunities to hike, play basketball, volleyball football, soccer, or ping pong… and that’s just a preview!
